The Simplepart price box has evolved quite a bit since its initial form. It's continuously being analyzed to improve the conversion rate from browsing to checkout. Due to the high customization levels discussed in the Reference Template Project, price boxes from client to client could have many different looks and functionalities. Through making UX updates and templatizing the platform, it's now much simpler to keep the price box consistent from site to site.
Because of the complex matrix of options for a customer (price shopping per dealers & third party suppliers, delivery, pickup, installation) there were many edge cases that needed to be considered.
The Before
- Selecting fulfillment options was simple enough, but difficult to keep clean due to the information needed to make the right choice.
- Custom stock codes, sale messages, and MSRP disclosures began to muddy the original designs and draw attention away from the CTA elements.
- Price shopping was deterred by the need to visit multiple dealer sites in order to find the best deal.
The After
- Important information cleaned up and better visually distributed with information and CTAs weighted more appropriately.
- Elements that were pieced together individually were all considered together to keep design clean and free from "plus-ones".
- Inclusion of a price shopping dropdown widget allows users to see the best prices from all participating suppliers for all fulfillment options.
The implementation of the updated price box in its testing phase increased conversion rates and led to 177% increased sales over the first few weeks of implementation.
