Control Panel

The Control Panel is the Simplepart backend tool for OEM and dealer clients. It's mainly used as a reporting and marketing tool: allowing clients to monitor sales, ROI, etc., and to run promotions and customize marketing materials within their parts sites.

Backend tools are notoriously low on the list for UX/UI updates, especially considering its use as a B2B tool. After drastically decreasing our site stand-up time through our Reference Template Project, our design team began the slow journey of optimizing the control panel experience. This is an example of a new way for clients to monitor and interact with their reports.

‍

The Before
  • Reports page default view offered a pre-expanded taxonomy of reports. Not only did this create a long list that required much scrolling, it was also hard to visually distinguish between the reporting tiers.
  • The reports list was understandably a sidebar, but with no report selected, users are introduced to a blank page that was ripe for interaction opportunity.
  • Once a report was opened, the only possible view was a spreadsheet offering no quick insight into the trends and statistics of the data.

The After
  • The default view offers a collapsed taxonomy of reports that decreases the visual overload of the hundreds of reports available. Increased visual distinction between the tiered information reduces confusion of where a report sits within the hierarchy.
  • "Favorite" and "Recent" reports are added to the main window to reduce time searching for frequently and recently viewed reports.
  • As development resources become available, later phases of the reporting dashboard will introduce new ways to analyze and interact with data from each report.

Accessory Desking Tool
A simple, yet effective interface for sales reps to showcase and order vehicle accessories on the showroom floor. Modeled after MICROCAT, the most popular EPC in the dealer space, this design capitalizes on that familiarity while providing a tool to decrease confusion and increase sales conversions.

Price Box
As one of the most important component of a part sales site, the price box must have optimal UX for sales conversion. This design considers dealer proximity, price, and fulfillment to give users the best price-shopping experience while keeping local dealers front of mind.

Reference Template
A large-scale, largely unseen design-forward project. These designs rely on developer collaboration to “templatize” the SimplePart platform. By indexing each component with style variables in mind, new client sites can stand up much quicker and with less bug-hunting.
